Descendants of Philippe Mius
                 

Philippe Mius was born 1660  in Pobomcoup, Cape Sable, N.S. He is the ancestor of the
Indian branch of the Mius( Muise, Muse , Meuse) Family. Philippe Mius married twice.
Both of his wives were Mi'kmaq women and Philippe's Children Lived among the
"sauvages" on the East Coast in the 1708 census.

marriages between Frenchmen and Indian women were rather frequent at that time.

Note: Relations of the Jesuits (vol. XLV, p. 68) mentions such a Montagnaise woman
that Mi' kmaq took along captive to Cape Breton before October 16, 1659. It may be
that this women or another captive montagnaise that became the mother of the
baptized child Michel from Trois-Rivieres. We Thank Mr. Denis Jean for having
mentioned this letter to us and the fact that Montagnais were known in the
